Qatar: QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, and ConocoPhillips have signed an agreement with the Syrian Petroleum Company to explore the offshore Block 3 area near Latakia, Syria. The memorandum of understanding involves a technical assessment by the companies and establishes a framework for technical and commercial discussions related to exploration activities in the block.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Block 3 area is located in the Levantine Basin in the eastern Mediterranean, with water depths ranging from 100 to 1,700 meters. The agreement reflects growing interest from major energy companies in new projects in Syria following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
