Doha: Qatari air defense systems intercepted an aerial target over the capital Doha on Tuesday evening, according to local media. The Qatar-based Al Jazeera television reported that air defenses shot down a projectile in the skies over Doha, with sounds of explosions heard in the capital. No further details were immediately provided.

According to Anadolu Agency, earlier statements from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari clarified that Qatar was not part of the US-Israeli campaign against Tehran. Al-Ansari emphasized Qatar's stance, stating, "We are exercising our right to self-defense and deterring Iranian attacks against our country."

The Defense Ministry revealed on Monday that its air defenses had shot down two SU-24 aircraft and intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones aimed at the Gulf state. This development comes amid heightened regional tensions following a large-scale attack by the US and Israel on Iran, which resulted in nearly 800 casualties, including the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Tehran's response included drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries, which house US assets, further escalating the situation in the region.
