Qatari Premier and UN Chief Discuss Escalating Situation in Gaza

Doha: Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres held discussions regarding the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Anadolu Agency, a statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry revealed that Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed received a phone call from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The conversation focused on strengthening relations between Doha and the United Nations.

During the call, both parties addressed several regional and international issues, with particular emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. The discussions come amid reports of ongoing conflict, where over 70,300 individuals, predominantly women and children, have been killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023. These attacks have persisted despite a ceasefire that was agreed upon two months ago, resulting in injuries to more than 171,000 others.
