Reports: Turkey kills two Kurdish leaders in northern Syria

Two co-leaders of the canton administrations in northern Syria have been killed in separate attacks. Turkey has killed co-leaders of two cantons of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, according to reports.

In a midday airstrike conducted with UAVs, Yusra Derwês, co-leader of Kamishlo Canton, her deputy Lîman Siwês, and driver Firat Tûma lost their lives, according to the Rojava-based news agency ANHA. The other co-leader of Qamishlo Canton, Gabî Semûn, sustained injuries in the attack.

Earlier in the day, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported that the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had killed Karker Tolhildan (known as Ridvan Ulugana on his Turkish ID), the co-leader of Shahba Canton.

Turkey views the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria as an extension of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and frequently targets its elements with artillery fire and UAV attacks
