Kiryat shmona: Four individuals were injured in the northern Israeli settlement of Kiryat Shmona due to rocket fire originating from Lebanon, as reported by medics on Thursday. According to Anadolu Agency, Israel's national emergency service, MDA, released a statement confirming that one of the injured is in serious condition, another in moderate condition, and the remaining two sustained light injuries. The conflict has been marked by heightened alertness across northern Israel, with sirens sounding in areas such as Kiryat Shmona and Margaliot. The region's air defense systems were actively engaged in intercepting the rockets. Israel's Channel 12 reported that the attack also caused damage to oil refineries in Haifa and resulted in power outages in several areas. This was a consequence of debris from Iranian missiles and interceptors falling in the vicinity. Hezbollah had earlier claimed responsibility for the rocket strikes targeting the Kiryat Shmona settlement and six tanks, further intensifying the cr oss-border attacks between the Lebanese group and Tel Aviv. The Israeli military has intensified its airstrikes across Lebanon amidst the ongoing hostilities with Hezbollah, despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in place since November 2024. Lebanese authorities reported that the Israeli strikes have resulted in over 1,001 deaths and 2,584 injuries since March 2. The recent escalation traces back to a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which began on February 28, leading to approximately 1,300 fatalities. Tehran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
