Moscow: The Russian foreign minister emphasized the need for a multipolar world order, asserting that there is no alternative for countries in the Global South and Global East. Sergey Lavrov, speaking in Moscow on Diplomats Day, highlighted the importance of protecting the fundamental principles of the UN Charter to ensure equality and justice in international affairs.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lavrov underscored Russia's commitment to achieving the goals of its "special military operation" in Ukraine, noting that much of Europe is now united in efforts to strategically defeat Moscow. He drew parallels between the current global situation and the time during World War II when Russian diplomats were instrumental in the establishment of the UN, suggesting that today marks another pivotal moment in history.

Lavrov emphasized the principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in internal affairs, both central to the UN Charter, and stressed the importance of defending these principles in the current global context. He expressed concerns over the West's reluctance to accept equality, given its historical dominance in global affairs over the past centuries.

The Russian foreign minister was critical of the West's foreign policy and military strategies, suggesting that past failures have not led to any meaningful lessons learned. Lavrov argued that an increasing awareness of the unfairness of the current system is spreading among the world's majority, pointing towards a growing acceptance of a more democratic and multipolar world order.

He concluded by expressing confidence that Russia's ongoing efforts and collaboration with its international partners will eventually lead the West to acknowledge the necessity of a multipolar world structure.
