Ankara: Russia is seeking to conclude the conflict in Ukraine expeditiously, but emphasizes the importance of achieving its preliminary objectives, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday, as reported by state news agency TASS. During a press briefing in Moscow, Peskov expressed that Russia remains open to political and diplomatic resolutions, deeming these avenues as 'preferable.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov highlighted that the conditions for peace hinge on fulfilling the goals set by Moscow at the start of its 'special military operation' in February 2022. These objectives include the "demilitarization" and "denazification" of Ukraine. He criticized European nations for allegedly encouraging Kyiv to pursue a military victory, which he claims has led to stalled negotiations 'through no fault of Russia.'

Peskov accused Western countries of 'egging on' Ukraine instead of fostering dialogue. He described the situation on the front lines as 'dynamic,' suggesting a continued decline in Ukraine's battlefield position. He predicted that the number of Ukrainians supporting peace 'on Russia's terms' would likely increase over time, despite internal pressures within Ukraine.

Peskov also commended Kazakhstan's willingness to host and facilitate potential peace negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, underlining that Russia 'highly values' Astana's stance. He referred to Kazakhstan as a 'special, privileged partner,' and mentioned the finalization of preparations for President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to Russia, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Additionally, Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit India at the end of 2025. He described the upcoming trip as 'meaningful,' with expectations of bolstering bilateral cooperation.
