Moscow: Russia and Ukraine have confirmed the completion of a prisoner swap involving 200 servicemen from each side. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian servicemen involved in the exchange are now in Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological and medical assistance.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the exchange was facilitated by the humanitarian mediation of the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Additionally, a second exchange involving 300 prisoners from each side is scheduled to occur on Friday.

Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky communicated via Telegram that Moscow and Kyiv are set to complete the exchange of a total of 500 prisoners from each side over Thursday and Friday. These exchanges are part of the agreements reached during recent peace talks in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed the exchange, expressing gratitude to Washington for its support in facilitating the process. Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War stated on Telegram that those released will undergo comprehensive medical examinations and receive assistance for physical and psychological rehabilitation.

This prisoner exchange follows three rounds of peace talks held between Russia, Ukraine, and the US this year, with the first two rounds taking place in Abu Dhabi and the third in Geneva.
