Moscow: Several people were injured as Russia and Ukraine traded accusations regarding overnight airstrikes that targeted facilities in both countries, according to officials and company statements. In Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported on Telegram that three individuals were wounded following Russian strikes that damaged an enterprise and an industrial facility, the latter located in Kryvyi Rih. Additional injuries were reported in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, with industrial enterprises and energy facilities impacted in the central Poltava region.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, stated that the vicinity of the Ukrainian capital was also attacked overnight with Russian drones and ballistic missiles, resulting in two injuries. Tkachenko noted that a warehouse fire erupted in the Boryspil district due to the attack, with warehouses in the Fastiv district also suffering damage. Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported significant damage during a combined Russian attack, including to a 16-story residential building, two educational institutions, and a private home. Infrastructure facilities were also hit, according to Kiper.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, posting on the US social media platform X, mentioned that European allies have taken 'important decisions' this week to bolster Ukrainian air defenses, emphasizing the need for additional ballistic missile defense packages. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed that its air defenses successfully intercepted 222 of 258 drones and eight missiles launched by Russia overnight.
Separately, Moldova reported airspace violations by five drones, which it attributed to aerial attacks by Russia against Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry announced it had conducted strikes on Ukraine's military-industrial complex, metallurgy, oil refining industries, and logistics centers across multiple cities, including Kyiv, Boryspil, Zaporizhzhia, Kremenchuk, and Kryvyi Rih. The ministry also claimed attacks on infrastructure at the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Reni, alleging they were used for military cargo and fuel storage.
On the Russian side, the Defense Ministry claimed that its air defenses shot down 267 Ukrainian drones across 13 regions and over the Black Sea, Sea of Azov, and Crimea. Russian e-commerce company Ozon reported that its logistics facilities in Orenburg and Ufa were targeted during overnight strikes, but preliminary reports indicated no injuries. Ozon stated that its Orenburg facility had resumed operations, albeit with limited acceptance of shipments for a day, while its Ufa complex sustained minor damage.
Ukraine has escalated its drone strikes on Russian logistics facilities in a campaign that has spread across various Russian regions since mid-July. These strikes have targeted logistics centers belonging to companies like Wildberries and Ozon, which Ukraine accuses of being part of Moscow's military supply chain, an allegation Moscow denies, asserting the facilities are civilian in nature.
