Moscow: Russia and Ukraine accused each other on Friday of carrying out overnight drone strikes that killed two people. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia's border region of Belgorod, reported that two individuals, aged 15 and 18, were killed in the village of Volchya Aleksandrovka, situated about 6 kilometers from the Ukraine border. He confirmed the deaths were due to a drone attack and extended his condolences.
According to Anadolu Agency, the operational headquarters of the southern Krasnodar region stated that a Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire at the sea terminal in Tuapse, located on the Black Sea coast. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and emergency services were dispatched to manage the situation. The sea terminal and oil refinery in the town have recently been targeted in multiple drone strikes. A regional state of emergency was declared on Wednesday following another drone strike that caused a massive fire at the Tuapse refinery. Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed ongoing efforts to prevent oil spillage into the sea.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses shot down 141 Ukrainian drones across eight regions, including the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014. Meanwhile, Oleh Kiper, the governor of Ukraine's southern Odesa region, reported that Russian drones damaged two multi-story residential buildings in the region's administrative center, injuring two people who are receiving necessary assistance.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on social media that the number of injured rose to five, with an additional person injured in a drone attack in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He highlighted attacks on railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, which left thousands without electricity. Zelenskyy called for stricter sanctions against Moscow, emphasizing the need to force Russia towards diplomacy if it does not do so voluntarily.
Ukraine's air force claimed to have downed 190 out of 210 drones launched by Russia overnight. Additionally, they reported shooting down 388 out of 409 Russian drones during daytime attacks. In Ukraine's western Ternopil region, local authorities reported 10 injuries in what they described as one of the largest air attacks the region has faced.
