Moscow: Russia on Saturday described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the US as a "complete political and diplomatic failure" of the Ukrainian government. This came a day after a heated exchange between Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance at the Oval Office.
According to Anadolu Agency, Maria Zakharova, Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said on social media that Zelenskyy is "inappropriate, corrupt and incapable of reaching an agreement." Zakharova alleged that Zelenskyy's primary concern is preserving his power, leading to the destruction of opposition, the creation of a totalitarian state, and sending millions of citizens to their deaths.
Zakharova further stated that under the current political conditions, which are deteriorating for the Kiev regime, Zelenskyy is unable to show responsibility, is focused on continuing the war, and refuses peace, equating this to a threat to his power.
She emphasized that achieving a "truly fair and sustainable" peace in Ukraine requires addressing the root causes of the crisis, stressing that Russia's objectives have not changed. Zakharova concluded by asserting that the sooner Kyiv and major European capitals understand this, the closer the Ukrainian crisis will come to a peaceful resolution.
