Moscow: The Kremlin on Monday underscored the significance of US special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, maintaining his mediation efforts between Moscow and Kyiv during his current visit to the Ukrainian capital. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov highlighted the importance of Kellogg's role as a representative of US President Donald Trump's team in providing mediation services for the Russian-Ukrainian settlement.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov expressed that while Russia holds no specific expectations from Kellogg's visit to Ukraine, Moscow remains prepared to engage in a third round of direct negotiations with Kyiv. He noted that Russia is awaiting proposals from Ukraine regarding the timing of these talks, indicating that Kyiv is not in a hurry to proceed.

Reacting to Trump's recent announcement that the US will supply an unspecified number of Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine, Peskov commented on the ongoing US military support to Ukraine, stating that such supplies have not ceased.

Kellogg's arrival in Kyiv earlier on Monday marked the beginning of a week-long visit, where he was received by Andriy Yermak, head of Ukraine's Presidential Office. Yermak mentioned on Telegram that the agenda includes discussions on strengthening security, weapons, sanctions, and enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.

The first two rounds of direct Russia-Ukraine talks, the first in over three years, took place in May and June in Istanbul, Turkey.

Additionally, Peskov addressed the situation in the Baltic region, attributing the current "atmosphere of tension" to the "aggressive" policies of European coastal countries. He accused the Baltic states of engaging in "provocative" actions, which he described as an "absolutely obvious reality." Asserting Russia's identity as a Baltic state, Peskov emphasized Moscow's determination to "firmly" defend its interests in the region.
