Ankara: Russia has announced an extension of its gasoline export ban until the end of 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed the decision during a meeting with journalists in the city of Omsk. The extension applies to both producers and non-producers, as officials aim to stabilize the domestic fuel market amid recent challenges. According to Anadolu Agency, Novak explained that the decision was made at a high-level meeting to ensure the domestic market's stability. He clarified that while the ban on gasoline exports will continue, the restrictions on diesel exports will be lifted as the market recovers. This measure is intended to prevent difficulties with oversupply and reduced processing volumes at oil refineries. Novak emphasized the importance of exporting diesel fuel to keep refineries operational once the domestic market is secure. Recent intensified attacks on Russian oil refineries by Ukraine have led Moscow to impose periodic restrictions to stabilize the domestic fuel market. Earlie r this year, a ban on gasoline exports by domestic producers was in effect from April through July 31. A full ban on diesel fuel exports was also imposed earlier this month to boost domestic supplies. Novak stated that the fuel situation is gradually improving, though he acknowledged challenges remain, particularly in Siberia. He expressed confidence that these issues are temporary and assured that measures are being taken to address them. Additionally, Novak mentioned that excess petroleum products from Kazakhstan might be supplied to Russia if necessary, providing further support to the domestic market.
