Ukraine: Russia has stated that Ukraine needs to adapt to the emerging post-war conditions, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressing optimism about ongoing discussions with Kyiv. Peskov emphasized the necessity for Ukraine to acknowledge the changes since the conflict, suggesting that understanding and acceptance are crucial for moving forward.

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, elaborated on these 'new realities', which are detailed in a memorandum handed to Ukraine. He highlighted the humanitarian agreements achieved so far, which have laid a foundation for more meaningful progress in the negotiations.

Peskov pointed out the importance of humanitarian achievements, such as the return of wounded individuals, as a significant outcome of the talks. He also mentioned the potential for a major summit involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which he suggested should be the culmination of extensive preparatory work.

In addition, Peskov addressed regional security concerns, noting assurances from Israel regarding the safety of Russian specialists at Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. The Kremlin remains keen on resuming negotiations with Kyiv, referencing the Istanbul talks as a basis. The initial rounds of peace talks in Istanbul took place on May 16 and June 2, 2025, but ended without significant progress.
