Russia: Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced on Monday that it has initiated a legal case against Apple. The tech giant is accused of not pre-installing a domestic social media platform and app store on its iOS devices, a requirement under Russian regulations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the FAS released a statement on Telegram highlighting Apple's failure to comply with a prior warning. This warning demanded the removal of what the agency described as discriminatory terms and conditions impacting Russian search engines and software providers. The FAS emphasized that the case is being pursued in accordance with the Law on Protection of Competition and previous legal precedents involving Apple, which have been upheld by Russian courts.

Further elaborating on the potential repercussions, the antimonopoly service noted that should Apple be found in violation of the law, it would face a financial penalty under Russia's Code of Administrative Offenses. In an attempt to address these concerns, Apple communicated that, as of July 27, an updated version of its software would permit the pre-installation of a Russian search engine.
