Moscow: Russia on Sunday reported that one person was killed and four others were injured in overnight Ukrainian airstrikes.

According to Anadolu Agency, in Russia's Belgorod region, a Ukrainian drone struck a car in the village of Golovchino, resulting in one fatality and one injury, as detailed by the regional operations headquarters on Telegram. In the Rostov region, drone attacks damaged two apartment buildings, injuring three people, as reported by regional Governor Yury Slyusar on Telegram. Slyusar described the incident as a "massive air attack" and noted that 30 drones were destroyed in the process.

A drone crash at a plant in the Ryazan region sparked a fire, though there have been no preliminary reports of injuries, as stated by Governor Pavel Malkov on Telegram. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces shot down 258 drones across the country, including over annexed Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

In a related event, a Russian air attack on border infrastructure at a crossing with Romania led to the temporary suspension of operations at the Orlivka checkpoint, according to the operational headquarters of the Izmail Regional State Administration on Telegram. In diplomatic efforts, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump's son-in-law, visited Moscow on Saturday. They are expected to arrive in Kyiv on Sunday as part of US-mediated efforts to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
