Russia Welcomes Trump’s Efforts to End Israel-Palestine Conflict

Moscow: Russia has expressed its positive stance towards Donald Trump's initiative to resolve the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, following the U.S. president's announcement of a new plan aimed at resolving the nearly two-year conflict in the Gaza Strip.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov conveyed Russia's support for Trump's efforts during a press briefing, emphasizing the importance of preventing further tragedy in Gaza.

Peskov expressed hope for the successful implementation of Trump's plan, suggesting it could guide events in the Middle East towards peace. He highlighted Russia's readiness to facilitate a peaceful settlement if necessary, while denying any direct participation in the plan, as Moscow has yet to receive any signals from Washington regarding its involvement.

On Monday, Trump presented the key elements of his Gaza ceasefire plan alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, DC. The 20-point plan includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, the disarmament of the Palestinian group Hamas, and the establishment of a technocratic, apolitical committee to govern Gaza temporarily.

In addition, Peskov addressed the development of a "drone wall" along the EU's eastern border, criticizing the construction of new walls and labeling Europe's approach towards Moscow as militaristic. He noted that European opinions on this matter are varied, and Russia continues to monitor the situation closely.

Peskov also commented on Ukraine's recent statements about potential long-range strikes against Russia. He dismissed these claims, pointing to the discrepancy between Ukrainian rhetoric and the actual situation on the front lines. Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance revealed that Washington is considering Ukraine's request for long-range Tomahawk missiles, with Trump set to make the final decision.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's comments about targeting Russian centers of power with potential weaponry were met with skepticism by Peskov. The Kremlin spokesman accused Zelenskyy of attempting to project an image of bravery to European allies.
