New delhi: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held separate meetings with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan on the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lavrov's discussion with Parrilla focused on Russia's support for Cuba's demands to end the US trade, economic, and financial embargo. Lavrov also expressed support for Cuba's removal from the US list of state 'sponsors of terrorism.' The ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues and reaffirmed their opposition to unilateral sanctions that violate the UN Charter. Both countries pledged continued political, diplomatic, and material support for Cuba amidst what they described as an escalating international situation.

In a separate meeting with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, Lavrov discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially in practical sectors, and addressed regional and international issues. The ministers also deliberated on preparations for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Malaysia, which will be commemorated in 2027.
