Moscow: Moscow is 'in favor' of building a multipolar world order, the speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament said on Monday. A statement by the Russian State Duma revealed that Vyacheslav Volodin hosted a meeting with a visiting Slovak parliamentary delegation led by Andrej Danko and Tibor Gaspar, deputy speakers of the country's National Council.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting addressed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation at the inter-parliamentary level. Volodin emphasized that "our country is in favor of building a multipolar world order. We must do everything to ensure that citizens have the opportunity to determine their own future, and only a sovereign state can do this." He also stated that Russia is committed to 'the principles of mutual cooperation and the absence of double standards' in its bilateral relations.

Danko expressed Slovakia's intention to build relations based on the trust it has in Russia. Gaspar noted that while Slovakia is a member of the EU, it is keen on protecting its national and state interests. He remarked that this approach should signal other European countries and their leaders to engage in negotiation and mutual listening to find solutions. The Slovak delegation, which arrived in Moscow on Sunday, will stay in Russia until Wednesday.
