Hangzhou: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in China on a two-day official visit to attend an inter-governmental meeting. Mishustin's arrival marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations, as he participates in the 30th regular meeting of the heads of government of Russia and China alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian government announced Mishustin's arrival in China through a statement on Telegram. The statement mentioned that the Russian premier was greeted by officials, including the ambassadors of Moscow and Beijing to each other's countries. The meeting is set to take place in the city of Hangzhou, a continuation of the regular discussions between the two nations' leadership.

The previous meeting between the Russian and Chinese prime ministers was held in Moscow in August 2024. Leading up to the current meeting, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko co-chaired the 29th session of the committee for regular meetings in Ningbo city, located in the eastern Zhejiang province.

A statement released by the Russian government last month indicated that, in addition to the regular meeting in Hangzhou, Mishustin is also scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping in Beijing. However, the statement did not specify the exact date for these talks. The meetings aim to address current issues related to strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China, with a focus on deepening collaboration in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields.

The discussions are also expected to promote joint projects in sectors such as energy, industry, agriculture, and education. This visit follows Russian President Vladimir Putin's trip to Beijing in May last year, during which he and Xi signed a joint statement to further deepen their strategic partnership as the two nations commemorated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
