Russian Strikes Target Ukraine’s Military Capabilities, Kremlin Says

Moscow:The Kremlin announced that Russian forces are continuing their retaliatory strikes against Ukraine, focusing on reducing the country's offensive capabilities. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that these operations are in response to Ukrainian attacks and described them as "systematic and massive."

According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov remarked that despite Ukraine's resistance, the current trajectory of events is irreversible. He noted that Russia perceives the actions of the Kyiv regime as futile attempts in the face of ongoing Russian operations.

The latest developments come after a significant Ukrainian drone assault targeted key infrastructure in Russia, including oil facilities and a logistics center in St. Petersburg, as well as a data center for the social media giant VK in the Leningrad region. Russian authorities reported that these attacks resulted in one fatality and nine injuries.

Concurrently, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defenses successfully intercepted 1,015 Ukrainian drones. These drones were over Russian territory, including the Crimean Peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, and the Black Sea region.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of launching attacks on residential buildings across Ukraine. He reported that these strikes resulted in two deaths and injuries to 12 individuals. Zelenskyy also mentioned that strikes on substations in several regions, including Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa, have left tens of thousands of households without electricity.
