Russian, US Delegations Arrive in Geneva for Peace Talks with Ukraine

Geneva: Russian and American delegations arrived in Geneva for two days of US-mediated peace talks with Ukraine, which are set to begin later on Tuesday, as reported by Russia's state news agency Tass.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian delegation's flight from Moscow to Geneva took nine hours as they avoided flying over unfriendly countries, with the assistance of Italian airspace allowing a direct route to Switzerland. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also arrived in Geneva on Tuesday, joining counterparts for the discussions.

The Ukrainian delegation reached Geneva on Monday evening, as stated by Ukrainian Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov. He expressed anticipation for constructive discussions on security and humanitarian issues to progress towards a dignified and sustainable peace.

This meeting marks the continuation of trilateral security consultations that began earlier this year. The first session was held in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24, led by Igor Kostyukov from Russia. A second round occurred on February 4-5, also in Abu Dhabi, as the parties strive to negotiate a peaceful resolution.
