Beijing: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Sunday engaged in discussions with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers' meeting scheduled for next week. The talks, held in the Chinese capital, were confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry via a statement on Telegram, accompanied by a photo of the diplomats, though no further details on the discussions were provided.

According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement of Lavrov's talks followed a confirmation by the Foreign Ministry regarding his arrival in China. Lavrov is set to represent Moscow at the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting slated for Tuesday. This visit to China comes on the heels of Lavrov's three-day trip to Wonsan, North Korea, where he met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui.

In an earlier announcement on Saturday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting will be held in Tianjin on July 15. This meeting is anticipated to address various regional and international issues pertinent to the SCO member states.
