Russia’s Upper House Speaker to Engage in Talks in Trkiye

Ankara: The speaker of Russia's upper legislative house, Valentina Matviyenko, will visit Trkiye on Thursday as an official guest of Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus. The visit is set to include a bilateral meeting at the Turkish parliament in Ankara, where both Kurtulmus and Matviyenko will later chair inter-delegation talks and hold a joint press conference.

According to Anadolu Agency, during a recent visit to Russia on September 24, Numan Kurtulmus addressed the opening session of the Federation Council's new legislative period. In his address, Kurtulmus emphasized Trkiye's commitment to pursuing initiatives across all platforms to achieve a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Ukraine war. He further noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is actively collaborating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to foster peace.
