Saudi Airports Attacked Amid Tensions with Houthis

Jazan:Saudi Arabia: Three people were injured following attacks on two airports in the southern region of the country, which occurred amid escalating tensions with the Houthis.

According to Anadolu Agency, the General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were targeted. Emergency teams and relevant authorities responded promptly to the incidents, following established procedures.

The attacks resulted in minor injuries to three individuals, who were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. The aviation authority also noted material damage to the facilities and stated they are cooperating with security agencies to assess the situation and implement safety measures for passengers, staff, and the aviation system.

While the statement did not specify the attackers, the Houthis claimed responsibility for a series of missile and drone assaults across Saudi Arabia, including the targeted airports. They also reported attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Abha Airport, an Aramco refinery in Rabigh, and military sites.

Saudi Arabia condemned the Houthi attacks on civilian and economic sites, accusing the group of increasing military aggression. This escalation follows recent reports by the Saudi-led coalition of intercepted ballistic missiles and drones aimed at the kingdom.

The Saudi-led coalition has been supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government against the Houthis since March 2015. The Houthis have controlled the capital Sanaa and other regions since September 2014.
