Ankara: Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts Tuesday warning of a 'potential danger' in Jeddah, Mecca, and Taif in the country's west, urging residents to seek shelter and follow official safety instructions.

According to Anadolu Agency, the alerts were issued through the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies, as reported by the Saudi Civil Defense. Authorities did not specify the nature of the potential danger, leaving residents to prepare for various scenarios.

Residents have been advised to remain calm and immediately move to the nearest safe place, preferably inside a building or an interior room away from windows. It is recommended that they stay there until the danger passes to ensure their safety.

The Civil Defense has also cautioned people to avoid open areas, windows, balconies, and rooftops. Those who are outdoors are encouraged to enter the nearest building or seek shelter behind a solid barrier to minimize risk.

Motorists receiving an alert are instructed to pull over away from bridges and high-rise buildings as a precautionary measure. Additionally, the public is urged to avoid gatherings and dangerous areas, and to follow instructions disseminated through official channels.

The issuance of these alerts comes amid escalating clashes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi group. The group has carried out a series of missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities and infrastructure in recent days. In response, Saudi forces have conducted strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
