Dammam:Saudi Arabia announced that King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was targeted in an attack, as Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility for strikes on Saudi aviation and oil facilities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is conducting damage assessments and safety inspections at the airport in coordination with relevant authorities. Details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage have not been released, but the incident is part of ongoing attacks on civilian aviation facilities in the country.
The Saudi-led coalition reported on the social media platform X that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Eastern Province. Earlier, GACA noted another attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in injuries, though the number and severity were not specified.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that the strike on King Fahd International Airport hit its target and disrupted air traffic. Saree also claimed attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as on Saudi oil giant Aramco's Shedgum gas plant and Tanajib oil facility. He indicated these actions were in retaliation for Saudi airstrikes on Yemen and warned of further attacks on the kingdom.
