Abu Dhabi:Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional developments and enhance cooperation. The talks emphasized the strength of the fraternal and historical relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
According to Anadolu Agency, Khalid bin Salman shared on the social media platform X that the discussions also focused on ways to enhance joint Gulf action. The Saudi defense minister further mentioned his meeting with UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, highlighting the importance of continued coordination on mutual concerns and supporting efforts to consolidate regional and international security and stability.
The meetings occurred amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, exacerbated by the Iran conflict and the renewed fighting in Yemen. The Houthi rebels have targeted Saudi energy and aviation infrastructure, prompting Saudi Arabia to lead an Arab coalition against them since 2015. The UAE, although it officially withdrew from Yemen in 2020, announced the end of its remaining military presence by December 2025.
