Saudi-Led Coalition Destroys 82 Houthi Targets in Yemen

Ankara:The Saudi-led coalition announced the destruction of 82 military targets belonging to the Houthis across four Yemeni provinces. The operation targeted Houthi positions in Saada, Hodeidah, Al-Jawf, and Marib.

According to Anadolu Agency, Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki detailed that the targets included 11 ballistic missile storage facilities in the mountainous regions of Saada, as well as command and control centers, communications systems, missile and weapons depots, and Houthi headquarters.

This military action followed Houthi attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Al-Maliki emphasized that attacks on civilians and civilian facilities would not be tolerated.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that three people were killed and 36 others were injured in these attacks on the airports. Additionally, the coalition intercepted and destroyed ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis, including one north of Riyadh and another aimed at Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia.

The recent coalition operation is part of a larger escalation in Yemen, which has been ongoing since July, following a UN-brokered truce that began in April 2022. Fighting intensified in September when the Houthis captured strategic positions, including Mokha in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces, before advancing to Mayyun Island in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Yemen's conflict began in 2014 when the Houthis seized Sanaa and other regions, leading to the Saudi-led coalition's intervention in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
