Saudi-Led Coalition Intercepts Houthi Missiles and Drones Targeting Saudi Arabia

Dhahran:Saudi Arabia The Saudi-led coalition announced on Tuesday that it intercepted and destroyed six missiles and six drones launched by Yemen's Houthi group toward Saudi Arabia.

According to Anadolu Agency, coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki detailed on the social media platform X that forces intercepted a missile heading toward Haradh and another toward Dhahran in the eastern region of the kingdom. Debris from the interception fell in a residential area in Dhahran, and authorities are currently responding to the site.

The coalition also reported the interception and destruction of three cruise missiles and three drones targeting the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia. Earlier in the day, three additional drones were intercepted and destroyed north of Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense had issued a warning on Tuesday about potential danger in the Eastern Province and Riyadh, but later confirmed that the threat had passed.

The Houthis had threatened to target key locations, including Saudi oil giant Aramco's headquarters in Dammam, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and Aramco's Riyadh refinery, in retaliation for coalition attacks on their positions in Sanaa.

The Saudi-led coalition, which supports Yemen's government, stated it conducted a "special military operation" to neutralize resources sustaining the Houthis' war efforts. These resources reportedly include civilian facilities and sites such as the al-Sabaha facility in Sanaa, underground fuel reserves, and fuel storage and transport facilities in Al Hudaydah, Sanaa, and Dhamar.
