Sanaa:The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen's government announced that it conducted a 'special military operation' to neutralize key resources supporting the Houthi group's war efforts. The operation targeted facilities that the Houthis were allegedly using for military activities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the coalition released a statement identifying the sites as including the central al-Sabaha facility in Sanaa, underground reserve fuel storage sites, and fuel tanks and berths in Al Hudaydah, Sanaa, and Dhamar. These resources were reportedly used to support the Houthi military operations, depriving Yemenis of necessary supplies.
The coalition accused the Houthis of using these sites to supply their missile and drone arsenal, posing threats to Saudi Arabia, airports, ports, and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The statement also mentioned that these resources had been used in attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as for preparing imminent attacks on civilian sites in Saudi Arabia and commercial ships in international waters.
The operation aimed to neutralize the Houthi militia's capabilities used to threaten Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the southern Red Sea, and maritime routes. The coalition emphasized its commitment to international humanitarian law, stating that feasible precautions were taken during the operation to avoid civilian casualties or damage.
The coalition has demanded that the Houthis immediately cease attacks targeting civilians and civilian facilities, including airports, ports, oil facilities, and infrastructure. The Houthi group has not commented on these developments.
