Ankara: Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology issued a 'red alert' on Wednesday, warning of expected heavy rainfall in parts of the Mecca province. The warning emphasizes the potential severity of the weather conditions anticipated to affect the area.

According to Anadolu Agency, the alert was published by the Saudi Civil Defense as part of their advisory on the looming weather conditions. Residents have been urged to exercise caution, adhere to safety guidelines, and follow any instructions issued by the relevant authorities to ensure their safety.

The civil defense has specifically advised the populace to avoid waterlogged areas, valleys, and dams, highlighting the potential dangers posed by the anticipated weather. The 'red alert' issued by the National Center for Meteorology is the highest level of warning, indicating that extreme caution is necessary due to the forecasted conditions.

The Mecca province has already been experiencing unsettled weather patterns and varying levels of rainfall over recent days, prompting heightened vigilance. On August 21, the center previously issued warnings for heavy rain in the provinces of Al-Ardiyat and Al-Qunfudhah. These warnings were accompanied by alerts for strong winds, hail, thunderstorms, and an increased risk of flash floods, underscoring the volatile weather conditions the region is facing.
