SBA Police carries out seashore campaigns at Lady’s Mile and Curium Beach

In a recent operation named "Jetstream," the Sovereign Base Areas Police (SBA) confirmed the execution of a three-day seashore campaign in the Lady's Mile and Curium Beach, earlier this month. The campaign aimed to ensure the safety and compliance of thousands of sea bathers who flock to this popular beach area. During the operation, a total of 22 boats were checked and a 36-year-old Israeli male residing in Limassol was arrested for operating a jet ski without a power boat license and without the owner's consent. As a consequence, he is now awaiting a court date to address the charges brought against him. Additionally, the SBA Police issued a total of eight fixed penalties and 12 written cautions for various seashore and traffic violations. Chief Inspector Tony Demetriou, currently leading operations at the SBA Police in Akrotiri, urged people who are visiting these areas to be aware of and act in accordance with laws and regulations in an effort to maximise the safety of people visiting the areas. The Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, usually referred to as Western Sovereign Base Area (WSBA) and Eastern Sovereign Base Area (ESBA), are those parts of the island which remained under British jurisdiction on the creation of an independent Republic of Cyprus in 1960.
