Search for Missing Individuals in Indonesia Landslide Enters Ninth Day as Death Toll Reaches 70

Bandung: The death toll from last week's landslide in Indonesia has climbed to 70 as search and rescue teams continue their operations on the ninth day to locate 10 missing individuals in West Java, as reported by state-run Antara News.

According to Anadolu Agency, authorities recovered 10 additional bodies on Saturday from the landslide site, raising the confirmed death count to 70. Ade Dian Permana, the head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Agency, stated that approximately 10 people remain missing. The search efforts, now in their ninth day, involve the use of tracker dogs and heavy machinery, with about 3,713 personnel actively involved in the operation.

To date, 49 bodies have been identified and returned to their families, and 78 individuals have been rescued safely. The landslide, which occurred in a village in West Bandung regency last Saturday, buried numerous homes under mud and debris. Search and rescue operations are challenged by the difficult terrain in the affected area.
