Senegalese Premier Set for Strategic Talks in Trkiye

Ankara: The Senegalese premier is scheduled to arrive in Trkiye on Wednesday for an official visit at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as announced by the country's communications director. Ousmane Sonko's visit will extend through next Monday, according to Burhanettin Duran, who shared the details on X.

According to Anadolu Agency, all aspects of the bilateral relations between Trkiye and Senegal will be reviewed, with discussions aimed at further deepening cooperation at the strategic partnership level. The talks, set for Thursday, August 7, will also include an exchange of views on regional and international issues, Duran added.

During the visit, agreements between the two countries are expected to be signed in various areas. Relations between Trkiye and the West African nation have seen significant growth in recent years, as noted by the Turkish Foreign Ministry. In 2018, Erdogan made an official visit to Senegal, accompanied by several Cabinet ministers, and Senegal's then-President Macky Sall visited Istanbul for the opening of Camlica Mosque in 2019.

Erdogan paid another official visit to Senegal in 2020, which included a business forum. Additionally, private sector representatives hold annual business forums in Senegal, further enhancing economic ties between the two countries.
