Severe Weather Causes Power Outages and Flooding in Southern France

Lunel:Southern France Severe weather has led to power outages for 7,200 customers in southern France, particularly affecting the Bouches-du-Rhone and Gard departments. The disruption was reported on Tuesday, with electricity network operator Enedis providing the figures.

According to Anadolu Agency, the power outage statistics were noted at 5 pm local time (1500GMT) and did not include the island of Corsica, which operates a separate electricity network.

Heavy rainfall resulted in flooding across parts of the Gard and Herault departments, causing significant traffic disruptions and leading to the closure of sections of the A9 motorway. In Lunel, located in Herault, several streets were submerged, prompting emergency services to assist residents to safety.

Authorities have confirmed road closures in the Gard department as rising water levels have impacted roads and bridges. The adverse weather conditions followed continuous heavy rainfall that began on Monday, with weather and flood warnings still active in parts of the region.
