Ankara: At least six people have been killed in a shooting at a youth welfare facility in the northern German city of Stade, media reports said on Monday.
According to Anadolu Agency, police reported that five adults died at the scene, and a sixth victim succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Initially, there was no information available regarding the age of the sixth victim.
Police confirmed that the five adults killed included four women and one man, as reported by the German Press Agency (dpa). Emergency responders discovered four bodies inside the facility, while another person was resuscitated in front of the building but ultimately did not survive.
Earlier in the afternoon, a police spokeswoman indicated that the death toll could potentially rise. Officials disclosed that a single-digit number of people were also injured, some of them seriously.
Police have arrested one of the main suspects, while two others remain in police custody.
