Six-day remand for 8 people suspected of funding a terrorist organisation

One woman and seven men were remanded for six days on Thursday in Nicosia in connection with investigations concerning funding a terrorist organisation. The eight suspects, who, according to information CNA has obtained, are third-country nationals who were staying in Limassol and Pafos, were arrested on Thursday after police secured information concerning their alleged involvement in such offences. Police said on Thursday afternoon that the suspects have been remanded for six days and are being investigated for conspiracy to commit a felony, participation in a criminal organisation, as well as violation of anti-terrorism legislation. 'The individuals seem to have secured money and financed a specific terrorist organisation located in a third country', Police spokesperson Christos Andreou, told CNA earlier on Thursday. Andreou clarified that there was no information that these persons would proceed with any terrorist act. 'The offences concern the financing of a terrorist organisation in a third country' , he added. The case is being investigated by the Police headquarters CID. Source: Cyprus News Agency
