In the framework of the exchange of good practices on migration, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, paid a working visit to Greece, during which she had the opportunity to hold meetings with the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum of Greece, Sofia Voultepsi, as well as with technocrats of her Deputy Ministry on issues related to the social integration of unaccompanied minors. According to a press release from the Deputy Ministry, meetings were also held with the head of the High Commissioner for Refugees in Greece, Maria Clara Martin, as well as with NGOs with which the Greek Government cooperates and which are active in the field of inclusion. It is added that Voultepsi and the technocrats of her Deputy Ministry accompanied Evangelou and her colleagues on site visits to structures and accommodation centres for unaccompanied minors, both in Athens and in Samos, one of the areas in Greece facing increased migratory flows. The working visit, the press release continues, took place in the context of exchanging good practices and benefiting from the valuable experience of a country that has been through the magnitude of the crisis that Cyprus has just recently gone through. "In Greece, the social integration of unaccompanied minors is achieved through synergies between the State, Non-Governmental Organizations and local communities," it said. According to the Deputy Ministry Evangelou thanked Voultepsi for her warm hospitality and extended an invitation to continue their cooperation with a visit to Cyprus and her participation in a workshop about the social responsibility of the State for smooth integration into society, which Voultepsi accepted.
