Berbera:Somalia: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has declared that Somalia will not permit an Israeli presence within the nation "under any circumstances."
According to Anadolu Agency, Mohamud expressed these views during an interview with Al Jazeera, where he revealed that Israel intends to establish a naval base in Berbera and utilize the city's airport. He contended that Israel's true objective is to strengthen ties with Gulf states and Iran.
Mohamud emphasized that efforts to involve Somalia in Middle Eastern crises will not succeed, asserting that the country will overcome the challenges posed by Israeli initiatives. He also mentioned that residents of Somaliland, a region that declared independence in 1991 but is still considered part of Somalia, oppose any Israeli presence. Somaliland was recognized by Israel last year.
