Gyeongju: South Korea's national fire agency has initiated a nationwide mobilization of firefighting personnel and equipment to tackle a wildfire in the city of Gyeongju, located in North Gyeongsang province. This significant response follows reports from local media emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the firefighting efforts include the deployment of 119 special response units from five regions: Daegu, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gangwon province, and South Chungcheong province. In addition, firefighter recovery vehicles have been dispatched from Ulsan, Daegu, and Busan to assist in containing the wildfire, which began on Saturday.

The Korea Forest Service announced that it has activated a Level One wildfire response, highlighting the severity of the blaze, which remains uncontained. As of noon, authorities reported that the fire was 23% contained and had already consumed approximately 42 hectares of land.
