Seoul: South Korea announced the successful testing of a new radar technology capable of detecting drones several kilometers away. This development marks a significant advancement in the country's defense capabilities against aerial threats.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) reported the successful detection of small drones using artificial intelligence-based photonic radar technology in an outdoor environment. The exact distance and size of the detected drones were not disclosed due to military security concerns.
South Korea initiated the development of this radar technology in 2022, aiming to improve its response to drone threats that existing optical equipment fails to identify. This latest advancement is anticipated to enhance the military's reconnaissance capabilities significantly.
