Pyeongtaek: South Korea and US forces have engaged in a joint exercise to install a deployable bridge at Camp Humphreys, a major US base in South Korea, aimed at enhancing their combined capabilities in maintaining supply lines during wartime.

According to Anadolu Agency, the five-day exercise commenced on Monday at the base located about 60 kilometers south of Seoul. The exercise involved approximately 50 personnel from the South Korean Army's 1117th Engineer Corps and the 11th Engineer Battalion of the US 2nd Infantry Division.

The focus of the drills was on the deployment of the US military's Line of Communication Bridge. This bridge system enables troops and equipment to traverse various terrains over spans of up to 300 meters.

Joint training in bridge deployment, particularly over rivers, is a customary practice for US and South Korean forces due to the geographical characteristics of South Korea, which features over 3,800 rivers and streams.
