New York:South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday made a call for peace and cooperation with North Korea during his address to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Lee presented "three blueprints" for achieving peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. These include mutual respect and acknowledgment of differences, establishing stable crisis-management mechanisms to avoid conflict, and promoting peace and stability both regionally and globally.

President Lee emphasized continued respect and potential cooperation with North Korea in areas such as public health, disaster response, and climate change. He expressed a desire to resume dialogue between North Korea and the United States, aiming to transition from a state of war to a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

He proposed that the process should begin with halting North Korea's nuclear and missile advancements, followed by reductions, ultimately aiming for a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.

Lee also highlighted the importance of the UN's role in supporting peaceful and prosperous environments, advocating for the involvement of youth in international decision-making processes.

Addressing climate change, Lee underscored the need for collective action and warned against the economic repercussions of abandoning growth. He raised concerns over blockades in strategic energy routes, which could disrupt global energy supplies and harm worldwide economic stability.

President Lee asserted the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and the safety of merchant vessels, advocating for strengthened cooperation on energy supply chains through existing frameworks like the International Energy Agency.

He concluded by expressing support for reforms to the UN Security Council to enhance its effectiveness, democracy, and accountability.
