Seoul: South Korean prosecutors raided the home of former first lady Kim Keon Hee on Friday in connection with an investigation into corruption allegations, Yonhap News Agency reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, special counsel Min Joong-ki's team executed a search and seizure at Kim's residence and the office of Covana Contents, an arts exhibition planning company she previously managed. This action was taken ahead of her scheduled appearance for questioning on August 6.

The investigation is examining several allegations against Kim, including her potential involvement in a stock manipulation scheme and the alleged illegal acceptance of a luxury bag. Additionally, on Thursday, Min expanded two investigations involving Kim and ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol to include international aspects in Cambodia and Mongolia. Authorities are investigating whether a Unification Church official provided luxury gifts to Kim to gain influence over development projects, such as a $1.5 billion fund increase for Cambodia, a UN office bid, and a news channel acquisition.

In a related matter, special counsel Cho Eun-seok is probing whether South Korea's military intelligence attempted to contact North Korea's embassy in Mongolia just days before Yoon announced a martial law decree on December 3. Two intelligence officers have been detained in Mongolia for the attempted contact.

Furthermore, a special counsel team questioned former Interior Minister Lee Sang-min on Friday regarding his alleged involvement in Yoon's brief imposition of martial law in December of the previous year.
