SpaceX Joins Elite Ranks with $75 Billion IPO

New york: SpaceX's groundbreaking initial public offering has catapulted Elon Musk's rocket and satellite internet company into the elite ranks of the world's top companies by market capitalization. The IPO, which priced shares at $135 each, raised approximately $75 billion, resulting in a market value of $1.77 trillion for SpaceX.

According to Anadolu Agency, the valuation places SpaceX eighth among the world's largest companies by market cap, trailing Broadcom at $1.83 trillion and surpassing Saudi Aramco at $1.75 trillion and Tesla at $1.25 trillion. This milestone underscores SpaceX's unique position in a capital-intensive industry focusing on rocket launches, satellite communications, defense contracts, and space infrastructure.

Over the past decade, SpaceX has become a closely watched entity, driven by innovations such as reusable rocket technology, NASA missions, and the Starlink broadband network. Starlink's expansion into various sectors, including residential, business, maritime, aviation, and government services, has emerged as a crucial growth driver for the company.

The listing represents a significant change in the global market-cap landscape, traditionally dominated by U.S. tech giants, chipmakers, and cloud-computing firms, with Saudi Aramco being a notable non-U.S. presence. SpaceX's valuation is uniquely tied to launch services, satellite connectivity, and future orbital infrastructure.

Nvidia continues to be the most valuable publicly traded company globally, with a market capitalization of $4.96 trillion, followed by Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. TSMC ranks sixth, reflecting its pivotal role in semiconductor manufacturing, while Broadcom is seventh, bolstered by demand for AI-linked chip and infrastructure software.

SpaceX's entry into the top tier, alongside its distinction from Musk's other venture, Tesla, signifies a strong market appetite for investments in AI infrastructure, defense tech, and next-gen transport systems. The IPO marks the emergence of a space-focused player in the small cadre of trillion-dollar companies.
