Ankara: Spain on Saturday condemned the recent attack by an Israeli extremist on a French nun in Jerusalem. "The Government of Spain expresses its strong condemnation of the serious attack suffered by a Catholic nun of French nationality in Jerusalem," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the attack involved a 36-year-old Israeli man who was arrested following the incident in East Jerusalem. Israeli police have labeled the attack as "racially motivated," intensifying international concern over the incident.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry further urged Israel to ensure freedom of worship and respect for the status quo in Jerusalem. The ministry called for measures to prevent similar violent acts in the future, emphasizing that the perpetrator must be held accountable for his actions.
