Today is the 12th day of the strike by the construction workers from Turkey in the railway project in Tanzania while those who have left work, but whose unpaid wages and indemnities have not yet been paid are on a sit-in in front of the Yapi Merkezi Holding in Istanbul. The strike of approximately 2,000 workers employed at the railway construction site of the Turkey-based construction company Yapi Merkezi in Tanzania continues on day 12. These workers have not received their wages for the past eight months.

Today (August 16), the striking workers at the site displayed banners with messages such as “Labor is the highest value, it is not bearable anymore” and “We, whose only capital is the sweat of our bow, are on strike,” as they marched on the construction site amidst applause and whistles.

On the other hand, the workers who resigned from their positions due to unpaid wages, and who have yet to receive their wages and indemnities despite having reached an agreement with the company, have been demonstrating in front of Yapi Merkezi’s headquarters in Üsküdar, Istanbul, for the past two days.
