Strong Earthquake of 5.9 Strikes Off Southwestern Japan

Okinawa: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck off the Okinawa province in southwestern Japan on Thursday. The earthquake took place 18 kilometers (11.1 miles) north of Yonaguni Island at 0745GMT at a depth of 108.5 km (67.4 miles).

According to Anadolu Agency, the quake was also felt in Taiwan's capital Taipei. There were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage.
