Gaza: A crane collapsed by strong winds in the Gaza Strip, killing two Israeli soldiers and injuring eight others, the military said on Thursday. The army reported that the incident occurred early morning in the newly-built Israeli buffer zone inside Gaza, as a storm caused an operational crane to crash down on the soldiers.

According to Anadolu Agency, the army stated that the buffer zone was constructed along the eastern area of the Palestinian enclave during the Israeli war on Gaza. The incident left one of the injured soldiers in serious condition, while the other seven sustained moderate and light injuries.

Recent stormy weather has severely affected Gaza, causing destruction across the area. Local authorities reported that the strong winds have torn up dozens of tents belonging to displaced civilians, exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region.

A ceasefire took effect on January 19, bringing a halt to Israel's genocidal war that resulted in the deaths of more than 47,500 people and left Gaza in ruins. The latest incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the region amidst efforts to rebuild and recover.
